UGC new academic calendar issued, check details here

The University Grants Commission (UGC) releases guidelines on examinations and academic calendar for the universities in view of coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown in India.
The academic calendar and guidelines were issued in the presence of Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Wednesday.

As per the guidelines released on examinations and academic calendar:-

  1. Intermediate semester students may either be evaluated on the basis of internal assessment or in states where the COVID-19 situation has normalised, exams be conducted in July only.
  2. A Covid-19 cell will be constituted in every university which will be empowered to solve the issues of students related to academic calendar and examinations.
  3. Universities may adopt alternative and simplified modes and methods of examinations to complete the process in a shorter period of time. They may reducing the time from 3 hours to 2 hours
  4. The universities may conduct practical examinations and Viva-Voce Examinations through Skype or other meeting apps.
  5. If the student wishes to improve the grades, he or she may appear in special exams for such subjects during the next semester.
  6. Period of lockdown may be treated as ‘deemed to be attended’ by all the students/ research scholars.
  7. Extension of six months period to the MPhil or PhD students.
  8. They may conduct examinations in offline or online mode, as per their ordinances or rules and regulations, scheme of examinations, and must observe the guidelines of social distancing.
