The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Ministry of HRD (Human Resource Development) has launched an internship learning program called “TULIP” to provide internship opportunities to thousands of fresh graduates and engineers of the county under the ‘Smart City’ projects.
The areas of interests included in the programme are financing, urban planning, environmental planning, sanitation and infrastructure, environmental engineering.
As per the report, around 25,000 fresh graduates will be enrolled in its first year.
According to the TULIP portal, there are a total of 295,200 internships under 23,970 companies.
What is an Internship under TULIP?
As part of TULIP, the intern gets an opportunity to apply their academic learnings in the complex dynamics of urban India, with excellent potential for professional development.
The program is designed such that ULBs/smart cities have incentives to offer a structured working and learning experience for their own benefit and have complete flexibility in offering competitive stipends to deserving interns.
Certificate of Internship
A digitally signed and shareable certificate regarding successful completion of internship shall be issued jointly by MoHUA, State Government, AICTE and the ULB/smart city.
Duration of the Internship: –
The duration of the internship will be a minimum of 8 weeks up to 1 year.
Students having a degree of B. Tech, B planning, B. Arch, BA, BSc, BCom, LLB can register for internships as per their interest.
Not more than 18 months should have passed from the date of declaration of final year results to the date from which the internship is sought.
